In 2025, ODFW’s Marine Resources Program reorganized the Oregon Marine Reserves Program and Marine Habitat Project into one program. The creation of the new Nearshore Ecology Program brings together efforts focused on marine conservation and habitat research. The Nearshore Ecology Program aims to strengthen collaborations, techniques, and teamwork around two groups historically focused on marine conservation science.

The March 16th Nearshore Ecology Program Annual Meeting dove deeper into the stories showcased in the 2025 Year in Review, Over 90 participants learned about the new ODFW Nearshore Ecology Program, 2025 highlights from the Marine Reserves & Marine Habitat teams, and research, conservation, and stewardship efforts in Oregon’s marine reserves & beyond.
