Reports from the Field – May

Updates from the ODFW Marine Reserves Program

We kicked off our spring hook-and-line surveys this month, completing two days of surveys at Cape Falcon.

ARMs IconWe set out ARMS at Otter Rock and it’s comparison area at Cape Foulweather. The ARMS will be left out in the ocean, attached to the seafloor, for a couple of years before we collect them.

Ocean mooring iconWe also set out two oceanographic moorings, one at Cape Falcon and one in the comparison area at Cape Meares.

Updates from Our Collaborators

Juvenile fish recruitment surveys, using SMURFs, will be continuing through the spring and summer months. We set out SMURFs at Otter Rock and in the Cape Foulweather comparison area. This is an ongoing collaborative project that is led by OSU, along with the Oregon Coast Aquarium and the ODFW Marine Reserves Program.
